Sep 1, 2017Dyersburg, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Dyersburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born January 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Samuel Alvie and Mary Julia Price Bradshaw. He was President of Bradshaw & Company Insurors and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. A lover of the great outdoors, “Sambo” spent many happy hours flying airplanes and gliders, traveling and served as Past President of the Dyer County Fair Board. He was a Director of First Citizens National Bank. Mr. Sammy became a member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church in May, 1941 at the age of 9. He was Past President of the Insurors of Tennessee where he was named Insuror of the Year and also named State National Director to the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America and Chairman of the Southern Agents Committee. Mr. Sammy served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Ed White with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Cole Shelton, Sam Bradshaw, Will Bradshaw, Jake Bradshaw, Jimmy Hester and Pierce White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will the members of “The Sewing Circle” and their spouses.The Bradshaw family will receive friends on Friday, September 1st from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home and also on Saturday, September 2nd from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clara Nell Yarbro Bradshaw; his son, Walt Bradshaw (Jane) of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Cole Shelton (Ellen), Sam Bradshaw, Anna Claire Bradshaw, Will Bradshaw, and Jake Bradshaw, all of Dyersburg; his sister, Julia “Sissy” Bradshaw Donovan of Morgan Hill, CA; and his daughter-in-law, Debbie Bradshaw-Hart (Paul) of Dyersburg. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bradshaw was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Alvie “Al” Bradshaw, III (5/16/99) and his brother, James Price Bradshaw (8/14/1937).
